MALDON & EAST ESSEX BEAVER SCOUT
FUNDAY 2010
Dear all,
We are organising a District Funday for Beaver Scouts at Prances on
Sunday 18th July.
Hopefully, this will give everyone enough time to fit it into their
section programming.
We are planning loads of activity and craft bases for the day, plus
a “Mad Hatters Tea Party” at lunchtime, so we will need as much
adult support as possible to make the day run smoothly for our young
people.
Please try and set the day aside to come and help make it happen.

Beaver Scouts
are young people usually aged between six and eight years old. They
belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family.
Young people can join Beaver Scouts in the three months leading up
to their sixth birthday. They can move to the next Section, Cub
Scouts, between eight and eight years six months.
Easily
recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beaver Scouts
enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping
others.
The Beaver Scout
motto is 'Fun & Friends'. Lots of games and trips will make sure you
have plenty of each! You will be able to make things, sing songs,
listen to stories and visit interesting places. You might also be
able to go on a sleepover, where you spend a night away from home
with the rest of the Colony. These are often the first time a young
person spends a night away from home. They take place in suitable
buildings, often Scout centres.
Beaver Scouts
learn about themselves, exploring their feelings and developing good
habits of health and personal safety. They get to know people,
finding out about people in their family, the family of Scouting,
the local community and the wider world. Beaver Scouts explore,
discovering the exciting world of science, nature and technology,
exploring the natural and man-made world. Beaver Scouts care,
growing in their love of God and responding to the needs of others,
the local community and the wider world.
